Along the way\, they examine both remarkable achievements and some of the most difficult chapters in American history—from the role of slavery and the Great Depression to the New Deal and today’s economic challenges. \nRather than being a traditional economics textbook\, the book offers a thoughtful exploration of how capitalism\, competition\, and innovation work\, why some ideas change the world while others don’t\, and which lessons from history remain relevant today. \nThe discussion will be led by Book Business Club’s long-standing host\, Yegor Ryasov\, together with Richard Woonacott\, an American diplomat with more than 20 years of experience in government and public policy. DESCRIPTION:On July 23\, we invite you to join a lecture by David Goldfield\, “The American Revolution (1775–1783)”\, dedicated to one of the most significant events in U.S. history. \nDuring the lecture\, we will explore how the Revolutionary War began\, the key turning points in the struggle between the American colonies and the British Empire\, and how the American Revolution led to the creation of a new nation. This webinar is a natural continuation of our exploration of U.S. history and will provide deeper insight into the events featured in the Freedom 250 virtual exhibition. \nDavid Goldfield is a distinguished American historian\, author\, filmmaker\, and Professor of History at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He is the author of sixteen books\, including Cotton Fields and Skyscrapers and Black\, White\, and Southern: Race Relations and Southern Culture\, both of which were nominated for the Pulitzer Prize.
