All That Jazz: The Black, White, and Blue of American Music
April 10, 2023 / 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm UTC+3
Jazz is a distinctly American musical form but it has its roots in Africa and among European immigrants sharing diverse musical traditions. How this musical form evolved from the Southern piney woods to New Orleans and, eventually, to Chicago and New York and beyond is a story of blending — both of musical forms and of people.
Led by David R. Goldfield – American historian, writer, film director, and professor. He is the author of sixteen books, including Black, White, and Southern: Race Relations and Southern Culture and Cotton Fields and Skyscrapers.
