The Declaration of Independence
July 19, 2023 / 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm UTC+3
It was a startling declaration: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.” These words, written by Thomas Jefferson on July 4, 1776, were hardly “self-evident” to most people in the world at the time, including those in the new nation, the United States of America.
Now, 247 years later, it is more important than ever to rekindle the meaning of the Declaration of Independence – what it meant then, and what it means now.
Led by David R. Goldfield – American historian, writer, film director, and professor. He is the author of sixteen books, including Black, White, and Southern: Race Relations and Southern Culture and Cotton Fields and Skyscrapers.
