Meet Kate Hosford – Children’s Books Author

Kate Hosford graduated from Amherst College with a degree in English and Philosophy. Before becoming an author, she worked as an elementary school teacher, a social worker, and an illustrator.

In 2011, she received her MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts. Her picture books and poetry collections are Big Bouffant, Big Birthday, Infinity and Me, Feeding the Flying Fanellis and Other Poems from a Circus Chef, How the Queen Found the Perfect Cup of Tea, Mama’s Belly, and A Songbird Dreams of Singing; Poems about Sleeping Animals.

Her books have been translated into seven languages, and have received multiple honors including a Bank Street Book of the Year, a New York Times Best Illustrated Book, a Junior Library Guild selection, and an American Library Association Notable Book. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two sons.
