Once called “Seward’s stupidity” and now considered a masterstroke, the Alaska Purchase is well known in American history. Dr. Lee A. Farrow will explain what the Alaska Purchase was, how it happened, and how it affected the course of history.

Dr. Lee A. Farrow is distinguished Professor of Teaching and Research Professor and Chair of History and World Cultures at Auburn University in Montgomery, Alabama.

Dr. Farrow has devoted most of her career to studying the history of Russian-American relations and has published three books on the subject: Alexis in America: The Grand Duke’s Journey, 1871-1872; “Seward’s Madness”, “A New Look at the Alaska Purchase” and “The Catacazy Affair and the Uneasy Path of Russian-American Relations”

Farrow is also co-editor of the online journal of Russian American Studies.
